Color Code

Sweater: Thrifted / Skirt: H&M / Tights & Bracelets: H&M / Satchel: Vintage / Watch: Guess / Sunnies: reNeu Boutique / Earrings: Thrifted / Shoes: Nine West

Autumn air has made its way into September here on the East Coast, and it looks like it is here to stay. I'm accommodating accordingly with a few things:

-The return of tights. I think the days of bare legs are gone for yet another year, though this is just fine with me.
-The return of darker, moodier color palettes - starting here with a classic black & red.
-The return of heavier fabrics. (Faux) leathers, fisherman's knits, and tweeds... be mine.

Also with the inception of Fall is the inception of different (but tried & trusted) habits. This weekend will consist of farmer's market produce (this time of year is the best of the best, isn't it?), a little red wine, record listening, brunch with a girlfriend, and closet re-vamping (Summer clothes... R.I.P).

Happy Friday, one & all.

Back To Basics

Blouse: J. Crew "Blythe" / Blazer: Envy / Pants: Joe Fresh / Shoes: Nine West / Satchel: Thrifted / Watch: Guess / Glasses: Elizabeth & James

Sometimes, somedays... there are fashion miracles. If you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen me rhapsodize about scoring this J. Crew Blythe blouse for under $20. Normally well over the $100 mark, I managed to pick this up via sale + gift card for a fraction of the price, which was happily welcomed as I've wanted one of these babies for quite some time now. I have heard nothing but great things about the Blythe. Seeing that it's as basic as can be, but 100% silk, oh-so well made, and beautifully fitting, it's a wardrobe no-brainer.

These reviews were spot on. I've worn this 4 times since it's arrival last week, and expect to stock up on just about every colour I can as similar sales come down the line. Paired with basic black separates & a dark burgundy lip for a work day look & I'm right as rain (and rain today it did...).

It's autumn y'all - back to basics.

Fall Frenzy

Fall Frenzy

Gucci Blouse / OHNE TITEL Skirt / ASOS Fedora / Coach Legacy Haley Satchel / Robert Rodriquez Skirt / Zara Dress / Zara Felt Cap / Karen Walker Northern Lights Sunglasses / MAC Lipstick in "Lush Life" / TIBI Piper Ankle Boots / Marc Jacobs Daisy / Zara Dress / Noir Collar

If you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen me tweet the following, "there is a time of year when you feel the seasons click. the air is crisp, the summer is gone & i veer to red wine, soup, knits & nostalgia.". It couldn't be more true. I made soup this week, have had 2 bottles of red wine since Friday, and my nostalgia is particularly on fire.

I also veer towards a wardrobe revamp. See above. If I look at last year's early Fall polyvore, it's a bit of a mish-mash, a mess, a blunder. This year I am feeling much more streamlined & simple (in every sense of the word), and majorly feeling the ol' mindset of quality over quantity. While some of these pieces are ridiculously out of the realm of possibility (hello Tibi boots, you are more than my rent?), there are a few items in there that are realistic contenders. My sights are set on both of those darling hats, some Zara dresses, and cheaper versions of both the burgundy blouse + quilted skirt. I think I can hunt those down just fine.

The key to this Fall will be taking inventory of my closet and figuring out what I already have covered and then picking some key pieces wisely from there. Perhaps I could even make a blog post out of that journey... maybe then I'd be held accountable.

What are you feeling for Fall?

Crush Like

Jacket: Levis from reNeu Boutique / Dress & Hat: H&M / Shoes: Nine West / Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff c/o The Urban Shoe Myth / Watch: Guess / Necklace: Thrifted

I don't always give way to trends. In fact, it's very seldom that I'll enter into trend partake unless I really, really dig it. Enter: this baseball hat. Guys, I didn't really mean to buy a faux suede-ish baseball hat, but for some reason I did, and for that reason I'm happy. This hat has become, may I say, shockingly, convenient & versatile. I've put a jewel on it (I'll showcase that on the blog soon). I've taken it to the lake. I've hid the messiest morning hair.

Things I was not surprised that I loved: black drop waist dresses & tiny denim jackets (this one is Levi's kids that juuuuust fit).

Ever been surprised by a clothing item crush?

29

Shoes: Nine West / Top: Suzy Shier / Blazer: Vintage / Skirt: c/o Joe Fresh / Sunnies: Le Chateau

Last week I turned 29 in this outfit, and I couldn't have had a lovelier entrance to the last year of my 20s. I switched out the camel blazer & heels for flats & a jean jacket for the evening (you can see that right over here), when an abundance of greek food was consumed/trivia night was attended. My loved ones threw me just the best evening, with presents like a fashion dictionary, second hand boutique gift cards, thoughtful cards, and pretty flowers, as well as buying our table oh, upwards of 6 pitchers of beer throughout the evening. My birthday sort of rolled into the next few days as well (birthday celebration appendix 1: wine & snack night with pals the next night & birthday celebration appendix 2: beers & concert going plus homemade perogie making (fail, fail, fail) after that), which is always lovely & welcomed. A birthday marathon, so to speak.

Now that September has officially kicked off & my birthday has passed, I officially have the bug that is Fall on the brain. With this shift in season comes a shift in the dynamics of organization, outputs, and outfits, and I hope to document it all via the blog in the days to come.

I hope you have a happy week.

Past Fall Favorites

A bit blog delinquent this week, so popping up a few Fall favorites from years past. This morning's air had that signature late Summer shift, and it had me reeling in Fall moods & memories. I think my Autumn polyvore board is in clear sight now, and that I'll be making my satorial shift away from Summer from here on out. A landmark of a day!

Enjoy this day.

The Most Basic

Dress: H&M / Shoes: c/o Vince Camuto (they're Kate's!) / Necklace: Thrifted

So... this wasn't meant to be a blog post.

I met Kate at lunch, and took her outfit photos, which led to her asking if I'd like mine taken as well. I said no at first, since I was wearing the most basic outfit there could ever be, but she offered up her heels, so I gave her my flats and we snapped a few quick shots (what a pal for putting on someone's old beat up flats, yes?).

So, yes. Black dress. Gold necklace. Pink lips. This is Wednesday.

Comfort Zones

Dress: c/o Issa London x Banana Republic / Shoes: Boutique 9 / Bracelet: Vince Camuto c/o Envy / Watch: Guess / Sunnies: reNeu Boutique

Wow to the mean look on my face in photo #1. I'm not really that mean, but I do have a mean (see what I did there?) case of this sometimes. Oh well.

In clothes related news - look at this Issa London for Banana Republic dress. This was sent on over to me (thank you!), and when I opened up the box, I wasn't sure how it was going to go. I knew it was mega beautiful, but the style is really different for me, and I have honestly never worn a wrap dress before. I have to say, though, this piece is super flattering, appropriate for a myriad of situations (work, wedding, daytime on the regular, etc.), and I've come to default to it many times over the past two weeks.

Proof that sometimes when you step out of your comfort zone, you end up the most comfortable.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Bits of... Sappy Fest

I mentioned in a previous post that I was heading to a music festival a few weekends back, so I figured I would post some random snapshots from that weekend and include one outfit in the mix (since, woops, it's the only outfit documentation I did the entire time). The festival was musical fun, grilled cheese sandwiches, beautiful breezes, swan pond picnics, beers, and a sea of high waisted Levis shorts. I had some fun.

This weekend is one of the only Summer weekend this year where I have absolutely nothing on the go. No travelling. No weddings. No nothing. Don't get me wrong - I love summer adventure the very most. I love road trips & get togethers & parties & all of the rest, but I am a pretty tired girl from this Summer's hectic schedule (and broke), and this weekend is reserved for finishing up some wedding photos I shot a few weeks back, having a beer or 2 (but not 8 - yikes), reading my book, tackling to do list items, making at-home breakfast (it's been so long), and listening to records.

Whatever you get up to.. have a great weekend.
