Spot

Dress: Unknown / Belt: Vintage / Shoes: Le Chateau / Bag: ASOS / Sunnies: reNeu Boutique / Bracelets: Vince Camuto c/o Envy / Oia Jules / Banana Republic c/o

I'm a pretty big fan of the simple summer dress. I'm a pretty big fan of the asymmetrical spot (versus the polka dot). I'm a pretty big fan of high necked collars. I am generally not a fan of the "cut out". On anything. This dress, however, kind of won me over. The back does have a cut out, but it's via a criss cross of material, and in a sensible place (when they are randomly in the front on say, your rib cage, I just get lost). With that in mind, I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised with it on the immediate, feeling like the back added just that little something different.

P.S. I listed it as "unknown" because I can't remember the brand and it is legit buried somewhere right now. #thetruth

How is your week?

Short-Shorts

Shorts: c/o Joe Fresh / Hat: Gap / Top: Theory / Flats: Urban Outfitters / Earrings: J. Crew / Sunnies: Le Chateau / Watch: Guess

I have a fedora rule. Unless wide brim, fedoras must be made of straw, and they must be worn in Summer. For me, anything else is just.. a little bit of a no-no. This said, I love Summer hats. I have a collection of about 5, and always forget to wear them. I remembered this day. I recently came upon the most perfect boater hat that I may just show you tomorrow.

These little shorts came from Joe Fresh, and though they are a little shorter than my usual style, I decided that pairing them with flats and a high collared blouse might make them late-20-something-lady appropriate (I am not pro underbutt). I love the eyelet, and I love the navy, a colour I've been extra smitten with lately.

Happy Thursday.

Baby Blue Beauty

Blazer: c/o Joe Fresh / Dress: Jayee / Shoes: Boutique 9 / Bag: Michael Kors "Hamilton" / Watch: Guess / Bracelets: Vince Camuto c/o Envy & Oia Jules / Necklace: Thrifted

A quick lunch time post for you on this Tuesday.

I last wore this leather dress on the blog back in the Winter time, when I paired it with one of my most worn tweed blazers. Well, it's much too hot for tweed in July, as I kind of found out by wearing it one sweltering day (bad choice), so enter my new favourite blazer: this baby blue beauty from Joe Fresh runway. To tell you the truth, Joe sent this on over to me as a full suit (there are some fantastic high waisted pants to accompany), and I can't even wait to style it up as a full suit. But for now, in these here 30 degrees, where bare legs are a must must must, I'm introducing the blazer as a separate. I've been throwing it over just about everything lately (especially when in air conditioned offices), but for this day, I chose a simple shifted dress, some baby pink pumps, and some gold on the neck & the wrist.

Have a lovely week.

Breezy Blouses & Bowler Bags

Skirt: Joe Fresh / Bag: ASOS / Top: Unknown / Watch: Guess / Sunnies: Le Chateau / Necklace: H&M

Something quick & simple for Friday, as well as for days that are so hot & humid that it's hard to wear anything at all. I called upon a breezy blouse in a neutral, a striped mini, flats for summertime walks, bright pink lips (Nars Schiap is my ultimate favourite), and a seasonably coloured bowler bag for this particular July day, and I faired out just fine. I also wanted to provide you with a link to a radio interview I did here in Fredericton in case you want to take a listen. I had a nice chat re: blogging, east coast style, and fashion in general, and thought I should share. It starts after the weather & a song and disclaimer! it's kind of long...

Happy Friday, one & all.

Bits

This weekend is a busy one.. Tonight features a southern food inspired potluck + concert, and tomorrow features a day long brewer's bash in the downtown core (samplings available on over 300 craft beers.. eee), followed by a friend's birthday night out (I bet this will include dancing). If I can slip a swim or a cliff jump into this equation, I may literally personify Summer perfection.

And since I've been a huge delinquent with outfit posts this week, here are some bits from times as of lately. I like sharing these kind of snaps with you just as much as I do outfits, and I hope you like viewing this Friday diary.

Have a great weekend, whatever it is that you get up to

School Boy

Blazer: J. Crew / Top: Zara / Jeans: Gap / Flats & Bag: Thrifted reNeu Boutique / Sunnies: Le Chateau

It's really no secret that I love J. Crew with a hefty adoration. The clean lines.. the nice quality... the quirky little details... the timelessness.  My folks gave me this school boy blazer back at holiday time, and though it took me a little while to incorporate it into my rotation, it took a bit of a lead role once it got there. I haven't been wearing it too often this past week, as we've really shifted out of almost summertime Summer to 'can I survive in any clothes whatsoever' Summer, but I am perfectly positive that it will make a grand re-appearance come Fall. I just wanted to show it to you (with its darling contrasting pop up collar) before that time comes.

Have a lovely ol' day.

Trumpet

Skirt: Ricki's / Top: F21 / Shoes: Thrifted / Necklaces: Vintage & F21 / Sunnies: Le Chateau / Watch: Guess

It would be safe to say that I'm mildly obsessed with drop waists & trumpet hems. The frequency of emails that I have sent to Candice & Kate with links to various favourites (oh hi, oh hi, oh hiiiii) has been a bit much, and god bless them for putting up with me. I've been hemming & hawing over which items I should take the plunge on & add to my closet, and that's really mostly because the fit with this style is so flipping tricky. Mega fitted on the hips & butt... not generally my most desired cut.

Then I found this skirt. This skirt looks like this skirt, but guess what.. it isn't that skirt. I found this replica at Ricki's - can you even believe that? Almost identical, fraction of the price. And it was distinguishably on sale from its regular price, so I paid, legit, $18 for it. A fashion miracle.

I also have to send a big nod out to Alicia on this look. She instagrammed something that directly inspired me, which is a pretty common occurrence.

Have a happy weekend!

Canadian Tuxedo

Shorts: c/o Gap / Shoes: Boutique 9 / Top: Unknown / Bag: Michael Kors "Hamilton" / Sunnies: Le Chateau / Bracelets: Vince Camuto c/o Envy & Oia Jules / Watch: Guess / Headband: ASOS

Admittedly, I'm not super into donning red & white for Canada day. I am, however, so very into the Canadian Tuxedo which simply constitutes denim, denim, and.. more denim. I wanted to top this off with a jean jacket, but it was so darn hot out that I just couldn't bring myself to pack on the extra layer. I did rock the triple denim a little while back last year, though, right here (and oh look, the very same shoe action - creature of habit, yes?).

These shorts here were sent to me by Gap just last week, and I'm foreseeing them as being my very favorite denim shorts this Summer season. Slouchy, but well structured, with the most perfect fit, I can see these becoming best pals with basically all of my blouses. The most perfect.

Have a great Thursday. xo.
